Thomas E. “Tom” Jones was born October 14, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN to Clarence “Casey” and Marjorie “Marge” Jones. He passed away March 17, 2026 at the age of 79 following a long battle with multiple myeloma. His early education was in Indianapolis, IN graduating from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1964. Tom grew up behind Englewood Christian Church which influenced him, along with family & friends, to devote his life to Jesus Christ and further his education to be a minister of the gospel. He graduated from Minnesota Bible College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature and later receiving a Masters of Ministry degree from Kentucky Christian University.
He met his wife, Mary Gail, while attending MBC and they married August 17,1969 in Truman, MN. Tom’s first ministry was in North Liberty, IN from 1969-1977. While there, Tom & Mary Gail’s 3 children were born: Aaron, Rhonda, and Philip. Other churches they served were in Dassel, MN, Green Bay, WI & Brookfield, WI. While in North Liberty Tom served as an EMT in the community. This helped prepare him for service in many different capacities. He finished out his career as a hospice chaplain.
Tom was a gifted pianist who began lessons at age 8. He also took voice lessons. Music was his passion. He could play by ear and found enjoyment in the beautiful gift of making music. His voice was calming and his gentle words to a person offered comfort to many in any of life’s situations.
Surviving besides his wife of 56 years, Mary Gail, are Aaron (Debra), Rhonda (Jim), Philip (Tasha), 11 grandchildren which include 3 spouses, and 2 great grandchildren, two stepsisters, brothers and sisters in law, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are his mother (Marjorie), father (Clarence), father-in-law Roger Hansen, mother-in-law Violet Hansen, stepmother, Dorothy.
