Thomas H. Sweinberg Age 95. Passed onto heaven Dec.24, 2016 to join, Sadie, his wife of 63 years. Beloved father of Thomas L. (Kay), Kenneth (Susan) Sweinberg and Linda (Thomas) Roessl. Proud grandpa of Amy (Damon) Busse, Lindsay (Bill) Wians, Jennifer (James) Lovejoy, Nicole, Brian and Christine. Loving great-grandpa of Emma, Otto, Daniel and Franklin. In addition to his wife, Tom was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mabel (Nee Dennington) Sweinberg and his brothers Frederick and Leroy. After high school, Tom served in the CCC's from 1939-1941 when WWII broke out. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 as a Private First Class and served as a mechanic in the South Pacific from Dec. 1943 thru Dec. 1945. After the war, he returned home to Wilkes-Barre where he met Sadie Morren when both worked in the local lace mill. They married in April 1951. Tom & Sadie moved to Milwaukee, WI after hearing about better job opportunities from Tom's brother, Leroy. Tom was hired in plumbing and heating maintenance for Nordberg retiring after 33 years. In addition to passing on his skills and knowledge to his children, the Masons and Tripoli Shrine Temple were a big part of Tom's life. He and Sadie enjoyed parties, fund-raisers, and especially parades and circus events where Tom played a drum and marched with the Shrine Oriental Band. When he was not volunteering with the Shrine he was always busy maintaining and improving our house and assisting others with his carpentry and plumbing skills. Given his experience in the CCC's and Army, he could fix or make just about anything which included a complete interior rebuild of our childhood home on Milwaukee's south side. Tom & Sadie enjoyed their wide circle of friends, their travels in retirement, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation Wednesday, December 28th, 10 AM to 12 PM, at the funeral home. Service at 12 PM. Private burial at Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Thomas requested donations be made to the veterans support organization of your choice.
