Thomas D. Winski, born January 8th, 1934 in Milwaukee where he spent most of his life, passed on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 at the Zablocki VA Medical Center. A short service will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tom will be laid to rest at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, 3801 S. 6th St, Milwaukee, WI 53221
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Eleanor Winski (Kwiatkowski) and is survived by his sons TR, Mark and Jon Winski.
Though born in Milwaukee, Tom always loved reminiscing about his time spent in Oregon as a youth. He returned to Milwaukee where he worked with his family's ice business. Though he enjoyed working for the railroad, Tom was most proud of serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955 where he attained the rank of Sergeant and Drill Instructor, specialized in small arms, anti-tank warfare and trained as a sniper and team leader. Tom was awarded 4 service medals: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Tom worked different jobs until he found his last long-term position as a labor and union negotiator in the metal industry.
Ever present was Tom's love for the Green Bay Packers and hunting, which were only exceeded by his pride in being a Marine. He was also a very avid student of military history, Milwaukee history, and maintained great interest in several other areas. Tom loved meeting people and was popular with those at all his favorite places and could be counted on for some very interesting stories. Tom will be dearly missed by family and friends.
May God bless and keep his soul in His perfect grace and mercy. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
