BIG BEND - Born December 30, 1939, passed away July 14, 2024 at the age of 84.

She grew up three blocks south of the Northridge Sears store in the family home and music store that the Forester family built and operated. She graduated Valedictorian from North Division High School in 1957.

She married George LaRoy Trower and together they had four boys; Walter (Tomie), John (Emily), Philip (Nancy) and James. Blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Along the way she spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader and president of the Village of Big Bend's Library Board. She enjoyed many happy vacations with George and family. She was a lifelong piano teacher. After teaching piano, Valerie enjoyed crocheting; she made mittens, scarves and hats then donated them to children in need. She also enjoyed volunteering as a 4 H leader and did so for 10 years. Since she was a teenager and as of recently, she has shared her love of accordion and music with residents of nursing home and other places.

Visitation at Hartson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Service 11:00 am. Interment to follow: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
