Johnson, Virginia Anne "Ginny" Age 76, of Brookfield, WI. died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha, WI. Ginny was born on January 9, 1938, in Waukegan, Il. to Melvin and Violet (Nelson) Johnson. She moved with her mother and two older sisters to Superior WI. when she was nine months old. Ginny's mother married Alex "Pop" Kerecman. when Ginny was six years old. She attended Brian Grade School in South Superior and graduated from Superior Central High School in 1956. Ginny received her bachelor degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin - Superior. She taught elementary school in Manitowoc, WI. for a few years and taught first grade at Madison Elementary School in Wauwatosa, WI. until her retirement. In her spare time, Ginny enjoyed traveling, playing guitar and spending summers at the family cabin on Lake Nebagamon near Superior. She is survived by a sister, Joan Hoff of St. Charles, MN.; four nephews, three nieces; and by her closest friend, Shirlee Vandegrift of Brookfield and Shirlee's children whom Ginny was very close to. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, step father, and sister, Gloria Wipfli. There will be a memorial service for Ginny at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI. at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Church.
