Obituary

Johnson, Virginia May (Née Lyon) Entered Eternal Life peacefully May 5, 2013, at the age of 93 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Beloved wife of Osborne (Ozzie) for 60 years, who preceded her in death, and devoted mother of Richard (Lin) and Ronald (Joan). Dear grandmother to Erika and Andrew Johnson, Corin Hammitt (Wes), Timothy (Hanna) and Scott (Ginta) Johnson, and Todd Berg, and great-grandmother of Nolan Johnson and Sierra and Sedona Berg. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Born in Hixton, Wisconsin on May 24, 1919 to Lucy (née Bennett) and Edward Lyon, she graduated from Hixton High School in 1937 and worked in a local legal office in Black River Falls, Wisconsin where she met a handsome movie theater projector operator. On January 4, 1942 Virginia and Ozzie were married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during leave from his Army action in the WWII European theater. Virginia and Ozzie lived in Milwaukee after his discharge and began their family in 1946. Virginia was a devoted mother who lovingly supported the physical and intellectual growth of her sons and will be remembered by family and many whose lives she touched, for her integrity, kindness and generosity. Virginia's faith, an important part of her life, was demonstrated by contributions of time to church activities. Singing in the choir and playing piano were her favorite activities and she supported Osborne's (Ozzie) efforts to co-found Prince of Peace, a Lutheran mission church on south Howell Avenue in Milwaukee. She was also active in church women's organizations at Prince of Peace, Lincoln Park and Devine Shepherd Lutheran Churches in the Milwaukee area.Cemetery:Entombment will occur at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Monday morning, May 20, 2013, in a private ceremony.Visitation:Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9741 W. Beloit Rd., Milwaukee, from 1:00 to 2:30 PMService:Service at 2:30 PM.
