Obituary

Waldemar “Wally” Modro, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home early Friday morning June 19, 2026.

Wally was preceded in death by his beloved mother Leokadia “Lottie” Modro (née Tucholke) and father Erich Modro.

Wally was born in Ozorkowie, Lodzkie, Poland.

In 1952, at age 11, Wally’s family immigrated to the United States. Once in the states, through a Lutheran sponsorship, the family settled on a farm in Iowa prior to moving to Wisconsin.

Wally served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1969.

Although never married, Wally was like a father to many who knew him. A spiritual father who deeply loved and followed the Lord Jesus Christ. A fiercely passionate man in his proclamation of “salvation is found in Christ alone.”

Wally was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was especially known for his orchid collection and was past member of The Orchid Society. In recent years, he enjoyed trips to the Milwaukee Domes with friends at the Regency Senior Living Campus in Muskego where he lived independently until his death.

Psalm 27:1 A Psalm of David

The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
