Obituary

Gray, Warren A., age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Southpoint Health Care Center. He was born April 11, 1923 to Alexander and Laura Gray in West Allis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, son, David, son-in-law, Thomas, his parents, sisters; Marion and Ruth, his twin brother, Wallace, and brother, Russell. Warren is survived by his children; Carol Arcuri, John (Patricia), Susan (Bob) Plakus, daughter-in-law, Rhonda, Laura (Tim) Bertetto, Charles (Jody), and Edward. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Warren served in the U.S. Navy during WWII between 1943 and 1945. Following his honorable discharge, he joined the Milwaukee County Transit Service (MCTS) in 1946, first operating trolley cars, and then driving gas-powered public transportation. After 35 years with the MCTS, he was awarded the National Safety Council Award for driving over 6 million accident-free miles. He retired in 1985. In addition to working full-time for the MCTS, Warren and his twin brother followed in their parents' footsteps, by taking over Al's Bicycle Shop in West Allis when their parents moved to Arizona in the mid-60's. The bicycle shop remained a staple in the city for many years, eventually being passed on to the next generation of children. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rita's Parish (60th and Lincoln Avenue), West Allis, followed at 11:00 A.M. by a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 3301 E. Forest Hill Avenue, Oak Creek.
